Project PV and Concept Visuals Revealed
Norihiro Naganuma, the acclaimed director behind the visually stunning hit The Apothecary Diaries, has announced a new original anime project titled Jurassic Shadows.
Jurassic Shadows takes dinosaurs and ninjas, timeless motifs loved by people of all ages across the world, and infuses them with modern elements to create a stylish, classic battle anime that is simultaneously fresh and original.
The project boasts a highly talented creative team renowned for their striking visual style, featuring character concept designs by Yoichi Amano—an accomplished manga artist with a track record in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump—alongside The Apothecary Diaries’ Yukiko Nakatani as character designer, and Misato Aita as color designer.
The story is set in Tokyo in 2029. Dinosaurs, once thought to have been wiped out by a meteorite, have secretly survived by hybridizing with humans. Now fully integrated into human society, they have begun preying on mankind. Standing against them is a secret underground organization that fights back using dinosaur pigments, a special compound that unlocks dinosaur-like abilities. Jurassic Shadows depicts a fresh, explosive, ninja-style battle for survival between the dinosaurs seeking to exterminate humanity and the organization sworn to stop them.
In conjunction with the announcement, a project PV and concept visuals have been released. Directed by Norihiro Naganuma himself, the promotional video offers a dynamic look at the world of Jurassic Shadows, showcasing hordes of dinosaurs tearing through Tokyo, ninjas utilizing dinosaur abilities, and an impending meteorite. Despite this being Naganuma’s first venture into the battle-action genre, the PV boasts incredibly fluid, high-intensity camerawork. Additionally, the new concept visuals capture the intense tension of the series, depicting a fierce standoff between a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a ninja in the heart of modern Tokyo.
